Asylum Seekers Tracked With Electronic Anklets

A pilot program in eight cities is requiring asylum seekers to wear electronic ankle bracelets 24 hours a day. This purpose is to keep better track of asylum seekers as they pursue their asylum applications in the U.S. The pilot program is not without controversy. The electronic monitors are the same that are used within the criminal justice system for convicted criminals; however, many asylum seekers have never committed a crime.
