Study Finds Asylum Seekers Often Mistreated

A study by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, a bipartisan commission, created by Congress in 1998 to monitor religious freedom in other countries, found that asylum seekers are often mistreated and treated like criminals upon entering the U.S. The study concluded that the Department of Homeland Security’s system for processing asylum seekers is harsh, long and arbitrary.
