DHS Announces New Program

DHS announced the ICE Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers (IMAGE), a new program which proposes to form relationships between government and businesses, and reduce unauthorized employment.

Young Activist’s Family Arrested By ICE

An Ecuadorian immigrant activist’s family was arrested for overstaying their visas.  The activist helped organized many student demonstrations and her attorney is arguing that they were signaled out for prosecution because of her activism. 

US-VISIT Proposed Expansion

The Department of Homeland Security announced a proposed rule to expand the US-VISIT program to an additional number of non-U.S. citizens, including green card holders, refugees, asylees, certain Canadian citizens. The program tracks the identities of foreign visitors to the United States through biometric data.

Tel-Aviv U.S. Embassy

The U.S. Embassy in Tel-Aviv will be providing special visa appointments for those unable to keep a scheduled interview, either because (1) they were called into military service, or (2) civilians unable to attend due to the current hostilities.

exemption, as of June 30, 2006.
