July 28, 2006An Ecuadorian immigrant activist’s family was arrested for overstaying their visas. The activist helped organized many student demonstrations and her attorney is arguing that they were signaled out for prosecution because of her activism.
US-VISIT Proposed Expansion
July 27, 2006The Department of Homeland Security announced a proposed rule to expand the US-VISIT program to an additional number of non-U.S. citizens, including green card holders, refugees, asylees, certain Canadian citizens. The program tracks the identities of foreign visitors to the United States through biometric data.
